The Bennett family has been teaching Uechi Ryu Karate Do in Colorado since 1996.  Originally teaching at a private dojo out of a garage in old town Erie.  Bennetts Karate began teaching for the Carbon Valley Recreation District in 2002, and then another location for the Erie Recreation Department in 2007.

In 2009 Bennetts Karate was established commercially in Erie by Richard Bennett, who is the current owner, chief instructor and technical adviser for Bennetts Karate across all schools in Colorado.

The Bennett family teaches Authentic Martial Arts styles from both Okinawa and Japan, including Matayoshi Kobudo, Uechi Ryu Karate Do, and Aikido.

The Bennett family still travels to Okinawa and Japan to train with masters of both Uechi Ryu and Kobudo in order to provide students with the most accurate and authentic instruction.
