Miles began studying Uechi Ryu under Shihan Allen Bennett at age 4 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Miles was promoted to Shodan at the age 16, Nidan at age 18, and Sandan at age 21, all of which are the youngest possible ages required for each rank. Currently Miles is training at the Uechi Ryu Kokusai Kyokai Honbu Dojo, with Master James Thompson in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Miles is currently attending Western Michigan University toward his Master Degree in Psychology, but during the summer break, Miles is an assistant instructor at the Frederick school in Colorado for the Bennett family.
